Sunny Sunday ~ Grey Monday

This AM, I decided I wanted to start a blog to share my experiences as a Mom living in St. John's, NL. I'll share community events I know of, dish about my life, share baking and crafting ideas, etc. Let me know if you have any other ideas! All are welcome - this is an experiment after all. I'm sure it will grow and change over time to meet my vision... perhaps yours too!

What a bag of mixed emotions it is when the kids go back to school, huh? The excitement of a new year, and yet the summer freedom is over. At least, when the weather is as nice as it was yesterday (24 & sunny at one point according to the temperature gauge in my car), you get a touch of that freedom back :-)

My Sunday was perfect! DH usually plays hockey, but was home and so he made bacon & eggs - a nice treat. Then I took DS #1 out shopping and when we got home he and his brother played with the kids on the street. It was one of those days where every time you passed an open window, you heard a gang of little boy voices and every time you went outside, you tripped over boys & toys! My fave kind of day ;-). DH made a stir fry for supper and we had left-over carrot cake that I had made for his birthday the day before (recipe follows).

Oh, you noticed DH cooked brunch AND supper? Yeah, I have never learned to cook! It is on the to-do list for this winter (not for the first time I might add - but, I really, really, REALLY mean it this time!). I will share my failures experiments with you. I do bake though.

What else do I like? I like to stamp cards, and to scrapbook. I love to crochet. I read a ton - magazines, novels, history, biographies. I have a slight FB addiction. I walk, but only when the weather is nice - I can't stand getting wet (yeah, I know, not great for a Newfoundlander!). I keep meaning to get back into yoga. I love snapping pictures of my two boys - DS #1 is 7 & DS #2 is 6.

It's kinda grey out there this AM - a good day to re-arrange my bedroom and clear some clutter. If I have any flashes of organizational brilliance, I'll let you know!

Looking forward to getting to know you!
