What To Do This Weekend - Eat Cake, Be a Pirate, and Celebrate Nature, the Sun and all they give us!

Well, I am SO glad and excited the weather has finally turned for the better.... and just in time for some end-of-summer fun days, festivals and final performances!

This weekend is packed - PACKED, People!!!!

On Saturday, I'm all excited about heading out to Salmonier Nature Park for their annual Family Fun Day. It is always on our list, but as we go out a couple of times over the summer (usually), it hasn't fit into our schedule before. This year, with the RDF and all, we haven't been out yet, and I am looking forward to the the first visit of the season!!!! It will be wonderful to see all the animals (the little foxes are my faves), and the promise of cake doesn't hurt ;-)

If you plan on staying closer to home - then the Geo Centre is also having their Family Fun Day from 12 - 5 on Saturday afternoon! They always do a great job of having extra crafts, games and BBQ goodies on their fun day... so I'll have to figure out a way to fit both visits in!

Also on Saturday, in Foxtrap, there is the Spirit of the Sea Festival, so head to the All Saint's Church for breakfast, family fun afternoon (including  a magician for the children's entertainment, a craft & bake sale and more cake), and "The Legend of the Black Headed Seagull" dinner theatre that evening!

Sunday....lovely Sunday.... this is THE day to head to Topsail Beach if you haven't been there yet this summer! It is the annual Pirate Day at Topsail Beach...which means dressing up like a pirate, entertainment by Terry Rielly, face painting and other activities, plus Boat Services! Events are scheduled from 2-4 with a shuttle bus service (from Topsail Elementary) running from 1:30-4:30.

As part of Seeds to Supper, there will be two special events in town this Sunday as well: Open Garden Day provides an opportunity for those interested in or already growing their own food to take a self-guided tour through the many gardens in the city. FEASt will provide a map to all the participating gardens and you can browse at your leisure. Also, MUN Botanical Gardens will host a special Family Fun Afternoon that day incorporating the Seeds to Supper Family Programs. Make flowerpots from recycled materials, visit our vegetable garden, see how worms eat our garbage and make our soil, plant some edible seeds and feed the ducks.

This is the final weekend for some SBTS performances - get thee to Hamlet or anything else you've missed! And don't forget to stop by the 24-hour Art Marathon at Eastern Edge (starts noon Saturday) and check out our great local talent!

Have a wonderful weekend!

For details on events in & around town, check my events calendar regularly - it is on the bottom of EVERY page :-) The Tely Go Guide published in Arts & Life section every Thursday is also a good source.

If you have something to add to the Calendar, please let me know! Complete details can be found here and I welcome being added to any "Events Distribution list" your facility might have :-)
