Seuss Birthday

Well, well, well... in case you haven't heard, with all the hype about The Lorax and all, today is Seuss's birthday! Yep, that masterful story-spinner was born on March 2, 1904, making this his 108th birthday :)

Last year, I posted some of my favorite Seuss quotes, and some celebration ideas for all the Seuss fanatics out there (click to view). This year, I found some ideas online and I wanted to share the links with you....

First up - this awesome Happy Birthday poem I found on just4teachers (it's really not you know ;-):

Doesn't that put a smile on your face? Me too.

Now that you're in the spirit, head over to foodyourway and check out their collection of Seuss recipes and activities... like these cute little marshmallow treats:

The crafty crow has a wonderful selection of ideas pulled together, like these little finger puppets for you & the kids to make (would make great pencil toppers too!):

Letkidscreate has a balancing activity and a Seuss creature craft for the younger little ones to get in on the fun. Check her out here.

And, now, we all know Seuss is amazing for little peeps learning to read, right? Well, this link is an every day treat: visit montessoritidbits for Dr. Seuss books listed by reading levels! I love this idea because, by giving your child a book to read at a level that meets his ability, you increase his confidence. This will instill a love of reading (especially when combined with the Seuss-master!) and as he moves along through the more difficult books, he'll become a more adept reader.... and have fun doing it!

And above all, remember:
