Wow! A local child psychiatrist, Dr. Barbara Maddigan, has written a book to aid parents in establishing a healthy and rewarding relationships with their children. It is the title that caught my eye: Inspired Parenting. That has such a nice ring to it, don't you think?
A friend met Dr. Maddigan once, and says she seemed to be a very competent and knowledgeable, down-to-earth doctor. And, I have to admit, after poking around the site: www.inspiredparenting.ca, I really can't wait to pick up a copy of the book! In it, she covers such topics as:
- Communication
- Technology
- Inability to Succeed
- Schooling
- ADHD
- Anxiety and Depression
As many of you know, Mario has had some struggles in the ADD/anxiety spectrum. Based on my impression of Dr. Maddigan, I anticipate the book will have some clear-cut, practical information and coping strategies for these concerns and I look forward to availing of her insight as we go through this journey with Mario.
The book was released February 1st, and is available at local retailers and online (Amazon.ca). There is a launch party later this week (February 19th) at The Rooms - see the calendar for details.
