Report Card Week in NL

Well, folks - it is that time of year again: Report Cards!

Most schools in the Eastern Avalon are getting their reports this week. We got ours yesterday (and, I have to say, this is one pRoUd Mama right here!)....

Anyhow, I thought it would be timely to share this link with you from Busy Kids = Happy MomTop 10 Conference Tips for Parents
source: Busy Kids = Happy Mom
For me, I always make sure I take the time to review the report card away from* the children, and note what my areas of concern are/ what questions I want to ask. How can I help my child succeed to the best of their abilities while instilling a love of learning? is usually my #1 question. I want to aid in their success, but don't want them so stressed they get turned off school, homework or learning. The teachers always have great ideas...

Happy report card week / teacher conferences!

*When I am with the children, my first high-fives are always for that stuff in the lower right hand corner :-). My primary focus is the comments on respectful conduct, positive attitude, etc. and their grades are secondary - I want them to know I am proud of their character as much - or more- than I am of their marks! We do discuss their grades and their needs recommendations with the message that when you do your best, all things fall in to place. ;-)
