Recall - Monster Science and Super Star Science Colossal Water Balls (Water-absorbing Polymer Balls) marketed by Be Amazing

The following recall notice is from HSWRecalled Monster Science and Super Star Science Colossal Water Balls (Water-absorbing Polymer Balls) marketed by Be Amazing! Toys pose a serious health hazard to young children
Health Canada and the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) report of a recall involving Monster Science and Super Star Science Colossal Water Balls (Water-absorbing Polymer Balls) marketed by Be Amazing! Toys.

When the marble-sized toy is ingested, it expands inside the body and causes a blockage in the small intestine, resulting in severe discomfort, vomiting, dehydration and could be life threatening. The toys do not show up on an X-ray and may require surgery to be removed from the body.

See Products tab for specifics on the affected item (including additional photos).

The soft and colourful product can be easily mistaken by a child for candy. The Consumer Product Safety Commission in the United States is aware of one incident with a similar water-absorbing polymer ball product in which an 8-month-old ingested a polymer ball and it had to be surgically removed.

The recalled products were sold at various retailers and websites from September 2010 to November 2012. (Canadian distributor may have been distributing up to the present).
