What To Do This Weekend - Celebrate Family Literacy and So Much more!

Things are starting to pick up again People! Here's what's on this weekend:

  • Tomorrow (Friday, January 27th) is Family Literacy Day! Celebrate:
    • with Brighter Futures at their event at Holy Cross
    • at the Ross King Library in Mount Pearl
    • head over to Chapter's, grab a coffee and let the kids pick out a new book in honour of this special day ;-)
    • read an extra bedtime story
    • play word bingo
    • have a family spelling-bee 
    • do a crossword together
    • just READ :-)
  •  Winterfest 2012 is this Saturday afternoon at Pippy Park,  from 2 - 4 PM., at their North Bank Lodge. There will be games, activities and fun for the family, as well as free rentals for ski and snowshoe gear!
  • In the mood for a family-friendly performance? Pop down to Water Street and attend the all ages puppet show The Queen of Paradise's Garden - a Traditional Newfoundland Fairy Tale. Written and performed by none other than Andy Jones, it is fun for everyone. At 2 PM Saturday.  
  • Family Fun at The Rooms is back this Sunday with This Art is Garbage! (Sunday 2-4PM). In this session, children will create art using the countless containers, cups and other trash that is continuously consumed by our culture.
