Recall/Allergy Alert - some NL Chocolate Company Products May Contain Undeclared Egg/Wheat

FYI, The following recall notice is from HSW, not sure if it will get picked up by National Media so I wanted to make sure you all knew, in the event of egg/wheat allergies :-)

The Canadian Food Inspection Agency (CFIA) and the Newfoundland Chocolate Company are warning people with allergies to egg or wheat not to consume the Newfoundland Chocolate Company brand chocolates described here. The affected products contain egg and wheat which are not declared on the label.

This recall involves 5 different Newfoundland Chocolate Company brand products. See HSW Products tab for specifics on the affected items.

These products have been distributed in the Atlantic provinces, Quebec, Ontario and Alberta, and may have been distributed nationally.

Consumption of the product(s) described here may cause a serious or life-threatening reaction in persons with allergies/sensitivities to the above mentioned allergen(s). See Hazard tab for more information.The manufacturer, Newfoundland Chocolate Company, St. John's, NL is voluntarily recalling the affected products from the marketplace. The CFIA is monitoring the effectiveness of the recall. For more information, consumers and industry can call the CFIA at 1-800-442-2342 / TTY 1-800-465-7735 (8:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. Eastern time, Monday to Friday).
Note: This is a CFIA Class I recall (High risk): The CFIA will request a Class I recall for a food product when there is a high risk that eating or drinking that product will lead to serious health problems or death. The CFIA issues a public warning for all Class I recall when the product is available for sale or could be in the consumer’s home.
